Christianity
Christianity is something new in my life. I started
going to Church after I met Michael (not Michael W. Smith ... pic on left side).
To tell you the truth, I thought all the Christians are schizophenia, but I
found out that they are not. I don't consider myself a Christian since religion
is such a complecating thing in our life. Maybe it is because I grew up in
Japanese culture that is Buddhism and Shinto tradition, it is hard for me to
accept myself in one religion. After I got into a crisis in my life (Feb 2000),
I started asking myself WHAT IS GOD? I believe that everyone of us have own
creation of God, but everyone has their own God. Even two people are same
religions, but it does not mean that they both have same images of God. So I
think it is kinda interesting. My god is.... I don't know.. I cannot explain..
But i have a God.. whom I can talk to 24 hours a day. Sometimes I ask to God if
he is listening, but he must be listening somewhere. He is.. my best buddy.
Sometimes I ask him about fairness. When people are killed, or being in crisis,
God is just watching us? just sitting and watching us like a movie??? When I am
crying, is he just watching me and laughing at me? I still ask the question in
every life, but I know that God created us, but we make decisions.. He does not
make decision for us, and he is always leading us to peace, and we just have to
watch out to notice God's message. And I thank Andrea who is my best friend who
taught me to think this way.. when I think about fairness.
After I met Mike,
I started listening to some music of Christian Artists. I did not understand
about Christianity at all, but I loved the music so much. I felt that even I am
not a Christian, there is something that related to me in their lyrics and
music. My favorite artists are of course Michael W. Smith, Crystal Lewis, Jars
of Clay, and Newboys. (I like DC Talk too). After my crisis, I started listening
to them again, and now the music sounds a little bit different to me. I can
understand better, and emotionally get impressed by those artists who sing for
us to send us messages.
Anyway I will
introduce some Christian Artists I mention. I hope you like them.
Here is:
He is the awesome artist. His music is very impressive. I
can listen to his CDs all the time. I wish i could be a songwrite like he is :)
There is a concert coming up in beginning of March, 2000
in Boston but I will miss it .. BOoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but his music is always in my room,
and in my heart :)
Crystal Lewis:
She is the
another great artist. The pic is from her album "Gold". It is the CD I love.
When I got it, I was laughing because she keeps singing GOD GOD GOD.. She says
"be with him be with him until the day i die" So I said.. well after you die you
don't want to be with God??? It is the simple question I had. But now I think I
understand what she meant. This CD is great one, and I would like to practice some songs of hers.
Jars of Clay: www.jarsofclay.com
I went to their concert on
fall, 1999. It was kinda funny setting. It had a big Catholic mass, and before
mass, there was Jars of Clay concert. Of course I loved them. Jars is the first
Christian Artist I have heard. Frail (in the Album "much afraid") has been my
favorite song. They are very young, and casual. I feel that they are more
friendly and singing from the same level as young audiene by dressing very
casual. I hope I can go to their concert someday again.
Newsboys:
Songs of Newsboys are
very up-tempo. The group is Mike's favorite artist.. so I got to like it. They
make me jump and dance. Currently I don't have this CD since someone (I can't
tell ya) is keeping my CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but.. I really love the
group. Oh. they are coming to New England area this summer (year 2000) I hope I
can go to their concert.. but if not. oh well. But I think they express very
well what they believe in their rock music.
